Time Travel and JET Terrassa, winners of the CBGB24 for women’s

Time Travel and JET Terrassa are the champions of the Costa Brava Girona Basket 2024 in the U16F and U14F categories, respectively. The tournament played its first finals on wednesday and this thursday’s morning the men’s competition begins maintaining the presence of high-level international teams and expanding the deployment of clubs and venues.

The tenth edition of the CBGB has already passed its equator after the outcome, this wednesday, of the female categories. The U16F final confirmed the power of Time Travel, the Barcelona team that left Girona with a full of victories and leaving behind a repertoire of beautiful and viral plays on the networks. The twins Alba and Rocío Heredia, in fact, were chosen as the best players of the U16F tournament. In the final, they beat a tough Barpa Sports from Chile, who was also coming into the match undefeated. The second team of the Chilean expedition finished in fourth place after losing to Premià de Dalt, third. Campdevànol, Grup Barna, Fontajau and Draft Gramenet complete, in that order, the cadet classification.

In the children’s category, there was a much more contested final between JET Terrassa and Granollers. The latter ended up falling for 63 to 79, even though in the second half one could sense an epic comeback. In the end, the victory was for Terrassa, who have not slowed down at any point in the competition. Ivet Montalvo, from JET, was the MVP. In the duel for third place, Basketball Girona Uni Laia Palau sweated against Post SV from Nuremberg, winning the bronze. SESE, fifth, had to fight for the place with the Chilean Barpa Sports, and Campdevànol was seventh against Draft Gramenet.

All set for the men’s tournament
This morning will kick off three more days full of basketball. Now it’s the turn of the men’s Costa Brava Girona Basket teams, which in addition to the U16 and U14 categories will also have an U12 category. In total, there will be more than half a thousand players who will pass through the pavilions of Vilablareix, Salt, Sant Gregori, Montfalgars, Fontajau, Palau Sacosta and Quart.

Zalgiris Kaunas, an Euroleague club, is the most striking of the big names that are present at CBGB24. At an international level, Rasta Vechta is also noteworthy as one of the most powerful in the German Bundesliga where the first team of the Freak City academy, Bamberg, also plays. From Germany, we must also add the Cybex Talents, from Bayreuth, and the Elite Basket Nürnberg, which brings together the best players of the region. Apollo Amsterdam, a CBGB classic, won’t be missing either, and even played a friendly with Rasta yesterday. Among so many foreigners, Sant Narcís, Vilablareix and Fontajau are the Girona representation that will host the European, state and Catalan clubs, as always with Valladolid, which has been coming since the first edition of the Tournament.

During thursday and until friday morning they will all compete in the group stage. On Friday afternoon, the semi-finals will take place and, on Saturday morning, the finals of CBGB24, which will now be able to conclude its tenth edition. It is not a few years, ten years, and even less if a competition has been able to maintain an international poster bringing young talents from all over the world to the Girona courts. This is what Costa Brava Girona Basket is all about.
