We keep expanding the list of international teams that will participate in the sixth edition of the Costa Brava-Girona Basket. The U16 team of the historical Lithuanian club Zalgiris Kaunas will compete in the tournament for the fifth year in a row. The Lithuanian team had already participated in previous editions under the name of Sabonio Centras, the basketball academy founded by the legendary Lithuanian center Arvydas Sabonis. Besides, they also took part in the first edition of the TopEuropean, which took place last year in Platja d’Aro. The Lithuanian team blazed to victory after beating some of the greatest European teams and won the final against Apollo Amsterdam (76-65).
The name “Zalgiris Kaunas” causes a great expectancy, especially after the great performance of the First team, coached by Saras Jasikevicius, in last year’s Euroleague. This year, Zalgiris will bring us to Girona the best of the Lithuanian basketball in order to compete in one of the toughest categories: U16.
